I have heard from some racer/diesel mechanic's that when running over sized nozzles that you cannot keep the injector running properly. They claim that the egt's distort the tips and they will not maintain good balance rates, you will get fuel knock from poor atomization, etc. One of them claims that the only way to keep the injector running properly would be to keep egt's under 1000 degrees. Is there any truth to this?

Mine work great...We have a lot of control with EFI might make a difference
Pending on who did the tips would probably make a difference also

The knock that I have experienced is only at idle when the air and fuel temps are higher from driving in stop and go traffic. You come to a stop and it almost sounds like a rod knock but it is not a mechanical problem. Touch the gas and it's gone. Balance rates and very bad when this occurs. Some injectors are in the +12 range.

That's what I was thinking. I ran two cycle oil mixed with my fuel and helped with the noise. The noise went away so I run some two cycle oil occasionally but the noise is starting to come back. The balance rates got better but not good enough. Still some are high. Three are out as much as +7's.

sounds to me like you have the common lb7 injector problem. the bigger nozzles dont do anything for the fact that the injector bodies are still junk in the lb7's. high balance rates= probably bad injector.

I think the body will probably be the problem. It would seem that the two cycle oil would only help a body problem and not a nozzle problem. I got them out today and will be sending them back. I will know in the next few days what the problem really is, I hope.
