How can you tell if its a injector cup or head gasket? After running the truck the cooling system is not pressured up. What is the easiest way to find out what cylinder? 02 LB7

Thanks

can't tell between gaskets or cups without tearing it apart. You can narrow down the cylinder by pressing up the cooling system for a while and then pulling glow plugs. See which one is wet. What makes you think you have a problem with either?

Pull the glow plugs out with the engine cooling system pressured up. Let it sit for a while, then crank the engine over. Keep your self clear because the coolant can shoot out very fast. Should be able to tell which hole pretty easily. You still won't know if its a HG or a cup. I would check the cup in what ever hole you find leaking first, before doing the HG.

Went out and raced my buddies Viper and then the next day whe i went to start it, it turned over half a crank then stoped. Let it sit for awhile then tried it again, it had a hard time turning the motor over then it started. Had coolant leaking from the down pipe . oil looks good and not gaining.

Can you see where its coming out? Take a flash light to the back of the engine and see if you can see where its coming out. If it leaked into the cylinder where it had a hard time starting it I wouldn't try to start it again if its that bad you will bend a rod
