info on 01 dmax

so i found a great deal on a 01 dmax regular cab for a great price 6,000 bucks, it has a work bed but i can always change it...anyways are there any bad things about these years on dmax...i heard that the early dmax motors suck balls, is this true...should i check something b4 i buy?

The main issue with the LB7 engines is the injectors going bad. There is an extended warrrenty that is 200k miles or some amount of years. Can't remember the number, but I don't think an '01 will qualify. You can run a VIN check and see if they have been changed under warrenty. One thing that makes the injectors tough to change on an LB7 is that they are tought to get to. Another think to check is the "pump rub" issue. Do a search.

How many miles are on it? How is the overall condition? Was it a company truck or a farm truck? Any evidence of a tuner ever installed?

They are the fastest of all dmaxes:D

head gaskets are superceeded on the 01 some people had greif with them

I personally love 01s

Pump rub is in the t-case the one gear rubs the side of the case and puts a small hole in the case then drains the oil out

mike l has a cheap fix

i love my 01!!!!! amost 200k on it i had to do the injectors and a fpr thats all beside all the mods. in my book the lb7 a great motor! i honestly hope it the one one of them all i ever own :thumb:
