I haven't seen this many places but around here, but damn it pisses me off. I know some of the major truck stops have cash prices and advertize it as such. Lots of the local station have started doing the same but don't say its cash only. And the ones that do have it done so halfassed your not sure what fuel is what price. It just makes me mad to pull up to a pump and swipe my card and then realize the damn price is 0.20 more a gal then whats on the board.

Although I did get a heck of a deal at a cash place 3.18 a gal. vs. the cheaper credit prices being 3.59- 3.90. That makes it worth carrying cash around.

My dad owns a gas station and there is a reason they do it. He's never more than $0.05 cents different between cash and credit and it's posted on both the sign and the pumps so customers are aware. I've never heard of .20+ cents difference, guess it's all in location.

It's all in the credit card companies.... the service station is required to pay card companies like Visa or Mastercard 2-4% of the sale to accept their brand cards. So on a gallon of diesel that is say, $4.00, the service station pays $0.16 to Visa. If they are only making $0.10 per gallon, they are actually loosing $0.06 per gallon to sell you diesel. So by offering a $0.05 lower price to you for paying cash, they actually make more money. This is also the same reason most brands try and get you to carry their brand card. My dad is a Sinclair dealer, Sinclair card holders receive the cash price, because Sinclair does not require him to pay that percentage fee.

Thank the giant credit card companies for this BS, not the service station owner.

I like how loves and flying J have cash prices that are the same as the local gas station across the roads credit and cash price, but Dozers right usually its poorly marked if its not one of the bigger Chains.

I know why its done and that doesn't bother me, but damn make it clear whats the damn price. I never though about the debit cards that really sucks.

I use mostly credit for everything even to get cash. I get 1%-5% cash back from discover so unless they give discounts bigger then that I don't pay cash for anything.

Every truck stop I've ever been to only charges the credit price if you go to the truck side and don't tell them before you start pumping that you're a pickup. I've filled up a truck stops across the country and never paid a credit price for fuel when I filled up on the auto side of the station.

On the plus side of things, I saw something that brought a grin to my face today... I saw Diesel selling for 3 cents lower than regular unleaded. I kick myself for not having taken a quick pic. 3.52 vs 3.55!

Still 3.79 in Colorado N. part and oil is down to $85 barrel they're ripping us off. Price of fuel will go way down when election time comes around and be like it should cheaper. Oil is everywhere sitting and they charge us just to keep the money flowing out of our pockets and making their profits way up there. Scam might be the word. Dump the credit cards is our belief pay cash.
