so as the title says the salt has destroyed my wheels and all 4 wheels have some chrome pitting and bubbling up. I'm looking to cheaply clean them up and im thinking about plasti dipping them flat black.

my question is related to everyone's experience with using plasti dip. I plan to sand the wheels down since I've got some bubbling, but are there any other precautions I need to be conscious of?

You may consider having the wheels blasted and powdercoated. I know I have many sets done from $25/wheel to $50/wheel. That is pretty cheap and easy in my opinion. I do not have experience w/ the plasti-dip. Many others seem to have good experience w/ it though.

You've had actual chrome rims blasted and powder coated for that price???? Alot of companies don't want to mess with chrome due to the make up of chrome.

places around here want 4-500 a set, I assume that's just a F*ck off price. i'm certainly not spending 500 on a set of wheels when I could buy a new set for that price. I will eventually get another set of wheels, but for now I was just looking for recommendations on how to sand and prep the wheels.

The good thing about plasti-dip is if it doesn't turn out right, peel it off and try again. I have a few buddies that have used it with great results. Seems to stay in just fine. Sand them down and spray away

well i have 3 wheels done, and realized on the first wheel I wouldn't be able to sand blast these anyway. These Diamo wheels have plastic accents on them... blasting would have taken those right off.
