Subaru STI or Mitsubishi Evo. The only way to go in my opinion. A STI or EVO will smoke a Vet any day of the week. Take one for a test drive you will be hooked. I am getting ready to pick up a STI soon. My friend has one and it is a blast to drive.

STi or EVO? No way I always laugh when I see a 30+ year old driving either of those 2 cars. if you had 40-50k to spend on a car get an 05 E 55. Just under 500hp and will do mid to high 12's. a friend of mine just picked up an 04 E 55 with 21,000 miles for 37,000$. you would destroy STi's and EVO's and you wouldn't be crammed in the car either

Yup - comparing the EVO and STi the evo is more of a track car and STi more of a street car - both are capable at both but that is the consensus of the enthusiasts.

I still say E60 M5..... someday I will have one :cool2:

You need to drive a newer Corvette aggressively to truly appreciate what's up.

No, an EVO or STi can't touch a 1997 Vette stock, either at a dragstrip, on the freeway, or around a racecourse.

And a 505HP Z06 will run high 10's if the driver is a hot shoe. Our 2002 Z06 ran 11.95 stock.

The new 135ci BMW is a pretty nasty little car. Twin turbo 6cyl, i know a guy that traded a modded STI for one if that means anything to ya! My buddie at lour dealer has a fairly mean E36 328i and he drove the 135ci and came back pale and shakin! Im a BMW tech for a livin so im a lil bias to them! IMO... New M6...500+ F1 inspired V-10
Carbon fiber, hood, roof, trunk! SMG gearbox or 6spd! :D

12.4 @ 118mph
4.1- 0 to 60 Not to shabby for stock! And theres alwasys room for mods! And
A very nice lookin & driving car!

get the used Z06 Vette, or better put a little money w/ the 50k and pick up the new ZR1. that'd be a blast to drive.

Good one... hmmmm.

Depends on how many kids i guess. I would search out a 00-03 BMW M-5 (20-25K) do a little suspension work, a chip or some ECM programming and enjoy. They make a belt driven charger for them but IMO thats a bit much. It doesn't have 10 computers in it either. I have a 535 with 247K runs like a champ (looks like crap), heads and bottom end have NEVER been touched, it's been my daily driver since i started MAC. I tought my kid to work a clutch in this 535. Brother has several BMW's a hot 540 (serene at 140 mph and still pulling) a couple 745's and a 760. The 7's are cruisers, the 5's with a little more motor are the way to go, I can't drive past the car neither can my Bro, it'll squash you to the door panel and the back of the seat.

Never seen a Vette, EVO, STi, Mustang, run as hard and dependably at 140,000 miles as they did with 40,000... does a Vette not squeek uncontrollably at 25,000 miles?

Good luck whatever you choose, sounds like a great idea.

I think I'd hold on to the money a year or so until the new Camaro comes out again. :D

Must be nice to have such a hard decision at hand. Kinda cool having a delimma of how to spend $40-50K on a "fun vehicle." :cool2:
