Ok Im SURE this has been talked about and answered a million times but...im to dumb to find it SO Im gonna ask again. Sorry.

I have a 5speed alli and im looking to beef it up some. The truck is stock now and im not looking to add goobs of power yet :D Im finding that 80 or 90 hp is about the max i can go safely. Is there anything I can do short of a total rebuild (transgo Jr maybe) that will toughin it up a bit?

Planed mods before a tranny build are exhaust, ppe valve (on the way) :D maybe some fuel stuff..not sure oh and a tune, either efi (via johnboy) or a plug in play.

sorry so long thanks in advance for the advice guys. :cool2:

2 real choices , transgo jr but will only let you run a small tune still

next choice would be a build , stage 3 or 4 kit .

the transgo jr for the newer alli will work in your truck. It really wont do too much for you. You can honestly run any tune you want in my experience just dont let it shift into 5th and dont get on it on the highway. Also, I have tested 6 different hand held tuners and the only one to ever limp my trans was the PPE HOT+2, this was in 5th gear pedal to the floor.

I agree with these Gents... Bleed once and get it over with. Call Mike L (Inglewood Trans) and get it over with, never look back or wonder if she'll let go again. A stage 4 trans will take you into big power before you start to hear her cry.

We all gotta start somewhere man... Don't sweat it.

Even if you stay out of 5th with a big tune it'll still give up and one day your truck wont move. If i had to do it again i would build the trans before anything over a 90hp tune. But yeah i agree the shift kit won't do much at all.

you are correct but it wont happen in a matter of days. My old mans truck that has ran the ppe on 350 for 15,000 miles and never limped, it only took me about 300 miles to limp my truck. Its all about how you drive it.

Or in your end of the forest, I think George AKA Big Dipper would be a good guy to talk to.

limped the small banks tune on level 6 with out the pyro in.... wasnt even on it, just gettin on the highway... just let you know, no matter what tune u go with, just start now putting nickels back for a tranny build. A real build, not a bandage that will tick u off n 6 months...

It took me 2 days after i got efi live to limp it. The trans lasted 5 months after that. I limped it like 10-15 times in that time. The last 3 months i stayed out of 5th with anything over a 50hp tune. Better off to get it done right away and then u can play all u want.

Dude I know, I have had 2 trucks that I could limp whenever I wanted also. BUT if I drove them right they were fine.

My 2001 was like yours, it would limp on the 1-2 shift whenever I wanted to, one day I did a burnout and it never moved again. My 2005 will limp if I get on it in fifth but since I cant afford a trans now I dont get on it in fifth:cool:
