I know the cost of this build is going to be great but I've been trying to do things a lill at a time to help with the pain my wallet will feel. I've done have my cp3's just haven't decided on a large single or going duals. I'm also wondering on what size injectors I should go with. I'm setting a minimum goal of 800 hp with room to grow. I know my twins will start to be out of there range at these numbers. so I'll probably upgrade those as well depending on budget, but my main questions is what needs to be done when getting the internal parts together and what is just a waste. What's the main things that are a must. This is what I'm planing on and please add to this if I've missed something.
Stock crank(keyed)
Stock cam (keyed, unless I go with a socal cam)
Carrillo rods
Block ( stock bore, torque plate honed, cylinders and main journals)(arp main studs)
Water pump (gear welded to shaft)
Grade "C" head gaskets with Arp studs.
Stock pistons cut and coated
Stock heads ( I've got a friend that machines heads and thought about having him work them over. just wasn't really sure what's needed and what might hurt them) any advice is welcome.
Also I'm going to be building this myself are there any tips or tricks that might help this build go as smooth as possible?

ok I haven't heard much on the valves. what lbs springs? so if I port the intake an exhaust ports on the heads and do the valves I should be good to go? I also forgot I was wanting to run lbz intake runners and ATS manifolds with uppipes.

i have no port work and just springs, just trying to prevent valve float under high boost and rpm,

I understand what you're doing with the valve springs. I just figured since the heads were gonna be off and I have a buddy that can port em for a great price. I should just go ahead and have it done to help with air flow in and exhaust out. anything that does that has got to help a motor like this.

well I've got a budget of about 15,000 but I'm always looking for ways to spend less. The 15,000 isn't all internal motor stuff and machine work that's including injectors, cp3(s) and anything i might have forgotten. I could get the motor built and shipped to me for right at 11,000 give or take but I wanna built it myself. I'm just that kinda guy. I've done everything else to my truck myself but the trans and I kind wished I'd done that to. Not saying Eric didn't do a good job. it's been outstanding. I just take pride in doing things myself.

The 3 weak points of a Dmax in my opinion are the rods, pistons, and cam key.

Once you settle those three issues you will be fine.

And after that point, the gain in reliability per dollar goes nuts, as does internal engine power-enchancing mods.
