So after my recent trip to the dunes I decided that its time to make my quad quicker. I have a TRX 450R that is pretty much stock besides a HRC kit (Cam). Now I want to go fast and I am thinking Nitrous because i have always wanted to play with it. Anybody ever ran it on a quad before? I am thinking a 20HP shot seems kind of small but keep in mind the bike has 40 something HP stock.

Ok I will be ordering the kit this month sometime. Just think it would be a 50% increase in HP with a 20 HP shot. I will be putting the jets after the carb. My Bike isnt EFI so i will have to get with the guys on the 450R forum to see what jets i need to run. The boondockers kit seems a little expensive I found a Nitrous Express kit for $575 with free shipping. So i might go with that one.

Be careful- the bottom ends on the 450's can be troublesome if not treated properly. Make sure your crank has been rebuilt before you throw some juice at it. When metal makes its way through the oiling system, it will damage the cases much of the time, since the cases are part of the oil pump housing. I'm sure you've done your research- just adding my personal experience to the mix.
i have a 2008 450r with NOS, and a 5hp shot is plenty for me, but i have all the supporting mods to the motor to run a 50hp shot now, and trust me "pretty much stock" motor and 20hp shot of NOS will not end up good...the only reason i know....got happy when i first got the kit, didn't have nothing done to the motor but a full exhaust......didn't do much but bend the rod and, burnt the valves and rings on a 20hp shot........that was also just my personal experience

yes, 20hp NOS and factory 100% motor with just header and pipe, after about a week of hard WOT and NOS it locked up the motor, i new it was gonna go because of the smoke from the burnt rings, now i got about $2K in the motor its not a fully built motor, just enough done to hold the power, but in a week or two ill change the NOS jets to the 50hp since the motor is broke in now....

My neighbor has a 700 Raptor he just put a nitrous kit on. He loves it, he's running a 15 shot. He doesn't know if that's hp rated or jet size but he picked up 3 tenths at the local 1/8th strip. He talked to a guy that builds Raptor motors for a living and thats what he suggested. He has about ten passes down the strip on it and some backyard test and tuning. Only bike mods are a pipe, efi controller, air box remover and a hot cam. I don't wanna risk it with mine though, not worth it to me. Cheers.
So where did you mount your bottle? I wanna conceal mine as much as possible so no one knows that i am running it. So maybe i will try a 15hp shot at first. Haha if i blow it it means i can build it better and run a 50hp shot like you.:rofl:
Yea, where can you mount one of those bottles on a 700r ? I guess it would be a small bottle though.
