i think the converter broke tonight :baby:, i could be wrong but i was out doing some boosted lanches checking my rear end after fluid change to see if locker was any better third one i did right about to launch 15psi boost 2100 rpm and torque converter let loose and a bad clicking sound stared took it out of 4wd turned of t/h still clicking, started driving and clicking went away
thought it was weird 1/8 mile later i pulled in the drive came to a stop and clicking started put in park it went away, put back in drive and tires chirping clunk stop clunk stop ect. it lock its trying to lock up , i think its screwed :(
i've beet it up a little but its only 4 months old what do the experts think mike
any thought is it the converter i think it has to be ?

also i have always had a problem with thinking the converter was to tight could this have caused the failure , the truck has been to the strip 3 times and towed 3-4 times . less than 2000 miles i dont drive the truck every day ?

Could be flexplate:eek:
i've never broke a flex plate but the syptoms dont seem to add up to that the vehicle drove fine on my way home , thinking back it acted like converter was locked up till i stopped then clicking started again then it felt like converter was locking then unlocking over and over instead of slipping or not engadging if you want to call it that but dont think its the flex plate, flex plate would sever the connection between engine and trans and not go anywhere and prob make a bunch of racket .

got the trans pulled tonight , flex plate good, found metal flakes inside of pan filter, and in fluid, converter is on its way to suncoast tomarrow, and disasembly will reveal more so far its loomkin like converter but i'll have the trans stripped down in the next couple days to be sure. i'll post my findings when i get them. btw thanks for the help mike ron was good to deal with also :D

got the trans all the way stripped down tonight and everything is perfect must have been the converter we will see what ron says after he cuts it open .

Alright the reason i was curious is a customer called me with the same problem u discribe so now i know its converter before i tear into it

talked to ron today and the converter was fine while he had it i paid to have it turned into a 1055 :D but i'm a little confused what caused this, the day i pulled the tranny i called mike cause when i started it and drove it into my shop it felt fine , and all internals look good , when i clean with solvent and reasemble maybe i will see more, and have not split the vavle body open yet. anybody have any thoughts ? should i pull the flex plate off of the crank and inspect ? it looks fine were i can see :confused:

Ron called me and said the same thing. That does not mean there is nothing wrong with it. I have had a few weird problems that could not be seen in the converter but were resolved with a repacement converter. If the flex plate has no visible cracks leave it alone.

Ron called me and said the same thing. That does not mean there is nothing wrong with it. I have had a few weird problems that could not be seen in the converter but were resolved with a repacement converter. If the flex plate has no visible cracks leave it alone.

we will see what happens :) i will call you tomarrow , it is not related but the c3's and c2's look a little beat up they need to be replaced i think and want to order a drivers side dip stick, may need to do some upgrades on those clutch packs they have never slipped but have seen better days while its out i might as well beef it up a little more unless the raybestes clutches have proven to be better than the alto's ?

got the trans all back together last night and all is working great again , i like the 1055 :D, and did a few nice upgrades while it was out, drivers side dipstick, c-3 clutch oiler and a little more pressure, just want give mike l
and ron at suncoast a big thanks for there help :hug: , ps mike can you belive they took my mama joke out of the thread on dp , heeh heeh : )

cool, glad it is better. what converter did you have before? also ron at suncoast is very helpful. unlike some in the industry he doesnt accuse before he has the facts and he and suncoast go out of there way to make it right. i guess thats why they are very busy. mike l is pretty good also:rolleyes::D

i had the 1054 .ya they covered the converter but i did have to pay for the stall change. but i was going to do that anyway done the road .
