I sold my PPE HOT+2 to a buddy of mine but it keeps coming up with a check sum error or something like that. Even after sending it back to PPE to be updated to the latest 2.42? version it will not work:mad: Dan at PPE seems to think there is a modified tune in the truck causing the issue. Since my buddy just recently bought the truck and it already was blowing blk smoke I would have to agree.... Anyways I need a stock tune for an 06 LBZ and also, Do I need to buy a new license for his truck to reprogram it back to stock? I am assuming yes?? Thanks in advance

It will cost you a license. But, if you are going to do that. I would read it first to find out what operating system it is. There are couple on here.

You don't need a license to read a truck....Just to flash a tune.

Edit I'm slow

Thanks Kat, What do I have to do in order to read his current operating system? Dumb it down a bit If possible :D:)

Plug the cable into your USB of your laptop, and the other end into the data port of the truck. Turn your ignition to the RUN position (BUT DO NOT START THE TRUCK). Launch EFILive tuning tool. If it says DEMO MODE, make sure you loaded the USB driver from EFILive.

Download your stock tune: FLASH->READ PCM CALIBRATION
This will take about 3 minutes. Turn off ignition for 15 seconds. SAVE the calibration "MyTruckStockECM". Copy it to at least 2 computers. You need to make sure you always have a copy of your stock tune. Now SAVE AS "TowTune" or some other working name, just to be safe.
