I need a 6 speed trans for an LB7 to LBZ swap that i am doing.

Can I use a 5 speed trans and swap over my suncoast 6 speed valve body?

Or are there differences in block mounting or valve body part location?

Or is it just a simple swap of the valve body and i should be good?

Thanks gang:thumb:

Swap the valve body, internal harness, shift shaft and internal linkage and mode switch. You must run an LBZ OS.

The suncoast "special" 5-6 speed conversion valve bodies are NOT the same as a factory 6-speed valve body. Well, they are, but some of the solenoids are different.

In other words, if you run a suncoast 5-6 valve body with a factory 6-speed TCM, you'll have problems.

To make a 5-speed trans work with a 6-speed TCM (an actual factory 6-speed TCM), you'll need a factory 6-speed valve body, the 6-speed internal NSBU (technically called an IMS), and the 6-speed valve body wiring harness.

The suncoast vb is a true 6 speed vb. :

the suncoast 5-6 speed conversion valve body??

Yes, it is. But suncoast changes some of the solenoids out to "5-speed style" solenoids. Particularly the TCC solenoid. The reason they change them out is because the 5-6 speed conversion TCM is still the old style 3rd gen TCM, which uses different control methods for some of the solenoids. So thats why they take a 6-speed factory VB and put the 5-speed solenoids in it.

if that makes sense.

Sorry I meant the suncoast valve body I have is originally from a 6 speed.
It's not the 5-6 speed convert.

I suck at teh internets:rofl:

But that's great info.

I may just reuse my LB7 5 speed and convert it over to an LBZ compatible 6 speed.

Now would I use the 5 spd or 6 spd rebuild kit?

Mike I may be calling you...
