So prior to my engine swap this engine seemed perfect. I just fired it in the new truck after about 4months and it looks like I'm leaking fuel from the valve cover on the passenger side. At first I thought it was coming from the glow plug on cylinder 3 but it looks like its coming from the valve cover. Rates on injector 2 and 7 are bordering 4 and going over intermittently and injector 8 is at 7. Wtf!!! Any thoughts?. Think it's from sitting? What exactly am I looking at?

LLY then? Injector line or body is about all there is.

Yeah it's. Lly well lines would b a visible leak correct. How does the body crack when it has not ran. It only ran long enough to reach operating temp. And what about the rates?

I've changed lb7 injectors before. R Lly a lot easier and if there is fuel in the valve cover that means the cup has to come out correct? Do they come right out?

Way easier on lly. Theyre outside the valve cover on the lly so I don't think you should have a FUEL leak from inside your valve covers.

Yeah I thought the same but it really appeared that way. Could the cupbe leaking? Like I said it looked like it was coming out of no. 3 glow plug. But after closer inspection it looked like just above it. Injector outside looks good and no fuel from above. It's strange:confused:

I might be overstepping but I didn't think the LLY & up had injector cups. I thought only the LB7s do - hence screw-in or weld-in cups for them?

I would expect a fuel leak before or at the injector to skew your injector balance rates.

When you're looking for the fuel leak at high psi, use the brightest flashlight you have and look for mist or "steam". Hopefully it isn't anything serious.

The injectors are horribly sensitive to debris. You may have some shit that washed into the injector affecting your balance rates. The injector may not be seated into the copper seal at the bottom of the bore or a cracked housing or the hold downs are not torqued down enough.

Well after poking around I figured out why the rail pressure was spiked. There was a plug unplugged for e regulators. So it appears that the injector quit leaking. The rail pressure was running wide open at idle. Now even still that injector should not leak correct? Will extended periods of max rail pressure cause seepage. It's just a drip when spiked and it's on number one injector and it's coming from under the hold down. What does everyone think?
