I would think that when you are boosting at 30 + PSI, and working it hard, it probably would be easier on EVERYTHING if a guy slowly backed off the throttle rather than just dropping it all together. Cool the egt's a little, keep the waterpump flowing a little faster to remove heat etc...

Only my opinion though-I'm not a puller either. It's just what I would do if I did.

I should do that. But usually just pull tell it dies. We don't have enough local pulls for me to get in the habit of throwing it in neutral. I'm afraid I would hit reverse:eek:

I bump my truck in to neutral when I'm not going any further with the sled to save the Turbo.
There is no such thing as letting it come down slow.
When the turbo comes off boost the motor will stall (especially if you have hard biting tires).
This is not good for anything that come in contact with or needs oil (turbo). The turbo needs all the oil it can get on the bearing after a pull. It's very hot and a stall will cook what ever oil is present on the bearing surface at the time.
We have rev limit stops that control our engines. They should be built-in to your tune. The max oil pressure will be provided at a higher RPM. I think we should keep a lot of oil on the turbo bearing, post pull and a little throttle in neutral will push some that way.

I high idle my truck up for a moment to pump some oil to the turbo before backing up on the sled after the pull..

Just my opinion.

My A5K is a little sloppy, but is still spinning after a lot of turmoil.

I was told by some heavy pullers to do this for the same reasons Steve mentioned above.
I told Randi to bump it into neutral after the flagman says it's over also. She has only stalled the truck in Michigan so far & that was only her second hook.
