yeah, sounds like a good deal...

Don't some people put a turbo off of the older Dodge Cummins as an upgrade on those 6.5s??? If so, you should be able to find one of those relatively cheaply I'd imagine and they are tough as nails.

If that doesn't work, I wonder if you could fab a charger from an LB7 onto it somehow? Would certainly be more air available and should be able to find one relatively cheap - maxfarmer has one with a big head for a good price right now....

If it would work i would buy it without a doubt i dont wanna buy it then it not work and i be stuck with a lb7 turbo. If Max farmer dont mine i will take it and try it out if it works i will send him some money if it dont work i will sent it back. But i understand it is hard to trust people now days.

I have a turbo laying here that came out of a 99 cummins it wont work

I was actually thinking of trying that on my 6.5 if I couldnt sell it. The big head should make it easy on the motor, I just didnt know if it was too big of a turbo for the 6.5 or not. I would think it would be easier than trying to rig somethign on the duramaxes since it sits off to the side over the Pass side wheel well.

I feel for ya Kurt, with a turbo installed is not much better than not having a turbo at all. gm-4 or gm-8 or about any of the turbo's will work on that one. Good luck with that.

Kurt, I can send it to you if you SERIOUSLY want to try it. I would try looking for something simpler if it is a vehicle you need to drive immediately.

Max farmer let me see what i find out tommorw. I am going to see about getting this one rebuilt if possible. If not i will have to get ahold of one. I can by a new one thats no problem but if i can experment and make a lb7 turbo work that will be sweet. Theres only one thing that worrys me if i pull that much boost out of this old motor will i sling a rod threw the side of the block. Number 2 the compression will be very high.

One thing i can acutally say there is no more my brothers truck. I wanted another diesel knew i couldnt afford a duramax. I looked at a couple 12va's they wanted more then what i had saved up to buy the truck and found this truck with 98,000 for 1600 and sayed its mine. I didnt think that was to bad

The duramax turbo bolts on from the back. The only thing i can think of to possibley make this combo work is to disassemble both turbos take the compressure wheel from the lb7 and put in the gm8. Take the housing and put on the gm8. U will have to keep the oil line and all that in the same location for the turbo to fuction properly

you will not be able to run the amount of boost on the 6.5 as any Duramax. IN fact, 15psi would probably be as much as I'd want to put to it. Those engines aren't really known for longevity, especially when they are modificated. In stock form, they can run for a very long time but not hopped up.

Ecc had one of the best running non-intercooled 6.5's I've ever seen, but he spent big money on it.

Injectors, tuning, waste gate, maybe some pump mods, exhaust, intake, those plug inserts that give more fuel, that crazy cooler thing that keeps it from shutting down whenever, and a few other things.

It was about the same as a stock duramax power wise, which is really good for those things. When he sold it, it was going south fast.

I can't believe you hosed the turbo already, try ebay for a cheap replacement.

Disclaimer: don't think you can get big power out of that thing, leave it stock and save your money for the D-max.

Ya sorry Kurt but you dont think you are gonna be throwing $$$$ at this thing constantly?

I woulda spent that $1600 on a 1057 or 1058... just me though.

The Duramax was a me and my brother type thing. This is a mine type thing. I still got the duramax to drive when i wanna. But this truck i can go out crack it up and take off and not have to say im going to us the truck.:D

one good thing is that it should still be a mechanical injection pump as opposed to the elec. ones. That makes it a bit easier to "turn up" but I really don't advise you to do much of that to this truck if you need it to be reliable and last a while for you. They simply don't stay together once turned up...
