Just curious as to each individuals meaning and representation of questions and statements about HP. This will probably result in a simple single response but you never know. I just get curious as to peoples thoughts and meaning whenever posting questions and answers about horsepower. This question is for anyone that wants to answer. I guess its more of a pole. What is your definition and meaning behind expecting a certain amount of horsepower from your vehicle. When you desire a certain horsepower number are you referring to flywheel hp or hp to the wheels??????????? I myself consider horsepower desired as hp to the ground, as i am sure most others do also.

I dont care about motor horse,i want to know whats at the the ground and ready to use.

A snowmobile looses 60% of its horsepower before it gets to the track. If someone made a more efficant delivery system snowmobiles would be so much quicker and faster.Just a comparison.

RWHP is what I use. If I'm really trying to get an idea of a vehicles performance I like to know the weight, torque and trap speed.

thats what im saying. I just feel a lot of posters dont realize the difference, nor do they realized that a 600 or a 750 rwhp truck is damn fast.

So do you mean if I start with 300 hp add 200 hp with efi live a cai adds 15 hp An exhaust adds 30 hp a boost valve adds 15 horse a down pipe adds 20 and 100 horse power injectors that means I have 680 horse at the rear wheels right? Lol:D

I've always discussed HP at the rear wheels. Thats where the "proof hits the pavement" so-to-speak.

The only people who talk in crank numbers are those that use it for advertising.

Most serious sled pullers above 2.6 class seem to engine dyno their motors but its for tuning purposes only-not bragging rights. Actually you wont even hear about it. Other than that, who/what uses flywheel ratings?

Never dyno'd the truck (local dynos say no to diesel :() so I just throw the stock HP rating and say the PPE adds 120 to it.

Car will get the Rwhp when it is dyno tuned. Triple disk 'verter for dem numbers :D

From the PPE web site..."*HP is measured at the crank shaft."
