I'm having a weird howling noise coming from my motor??? Alrighty fellas I just put dual c's and nozzles on my lbz. The twin kit before I tore it all apart didn't leak ( that I know of ) and everything was tight no howling. I tore the kit off and then obviously put it back on. I triple checked that all v bands were on right and tight. I did take the charger off and loosen those v bands on the charger. I further then when putting back on tighten all v bands and wheel spins freely ans keeps on spinning. Truck runs great and builds boost no problem. Even revving in idle I can build boost 7 lbs plus just revving in park? My problem is I have a howling coming from the motor that gets louder with more rpm. The worst is around 2,000 rpm. That is where the howl is the loudest. Doesn't matter if I switch a tune up or down. I thought I may have damaged my vain position sensor somehow? But logged it and the vains are as far as % goes with more throttle as they are commanded too etc. the howl sounds like a VVT that is super cold and just warming up but even when the truck is warm it's doing it? I prob need to make a boost leak tester and prob test it that way? Any other thoughts? I'm at a lost and I have now pulled apart and checked everything at least 10 times. I had two people sit outside of the truck to try and listen to where the Noise is coming from but they could barely hear it. Now once in the cab you can hear the howl no problem. You can't hear it at idel rpm only with more rpm... Advice? I never messed with the stock turbo while installing fuel
Items. No fuel leaks. Truck holds rail pressure no problem. Thanks! Typed off my iPhone sorry for bad grammer.

Um fan clutch noise? I've had a few of them stick in full lock after removing them for one reason or another

is it kind of like a alternator whine? like a high pitched noise? i just had the same problem the other day. they way i troubleshot my problem was take the belt off and reved it up to 2000 rpm quick to see if the noise went away. i could then isolate that mine was a issue with a pulley. turned out my idler pulley under the alternator was bad. to find it when the belt was off i spun all the pulley's by hand. just see what ones don't spin well, loose, or making noise.

Did your pulleys do it at any rpm above idle ? Truck is quiet at idle. Fan spins if I grab it. Doesn't spin freely like a turbo wheel though.

Take the belt off and start it, if the noise goes away your In the pulley/ fan clutch area. If it does go away feel each pulley by spinning and you'll hear/ feel a rough on. If noise is gone with belt not on and you can't see any pulleys bad, then put the belt back on, take the fan clutch off and then start again.

yes, mine started when i hit 1500rpm then all the way through. like said, take the belt off and start it up and run it to where you normally hear the noise. if its gone then start checking the pulleys for any that are rough or not spinning well.
