i love the looks of tinted windows but wont tint mine cause i like to see my mirrors at night. the other day i noticed my friends glasses were the ones that tinted in sunlight and were normal in low light then thought why cant i do that on my truck?. if they made tint like that for automotive use it would be absolutely awesome! just thinking out loud :D

Because if you were driving in Az and went into a tunnel you wouldnt be able to see chit!

They change too gradually to be safe unfortunately.

The transitions are in the lenses it's not tinted. That would be expense to change all your glass to that stuff. And I agree. They transition very slowly.

i thought the transition was a layer or film that was between the lenses like how windshields are made? even if that cant be used it looks like they could make something similar in tint.

Heck, I'd be OK with the green stuff they have on my mirrors that tints electrically. I have also wondered why they don't make auto or variable tint for cars. Probably because tint is illegal in so many areas it isn't worth it from a business perspective. I'd love to be wrong though!

I have tint on my front windows, and I have no problem when driving into a tunnel. I just take off my sunglasses (and usually don't even have to do that). Most tunnels are very well lit, except in the mountains. In that case: headlights! (which should probably be on in tunnels anyway)

I have very sensitive eyes (which is why I use the tint). If your eyes are not that sensitive to light (i.e. you have a hard time seeing through the tint at night), you probably don't need tint anyway, just a window shade.
