How to test an Isspro thermocouple?

What should an Isspro thermocouple read cold for resistance? I've been noticing my egt's varying over 100 degrees on smooth flat road with cruise set. Also last weekend I was noticing over 200 degree changes while towing my 5th wheel. I'm guessing that checking resistance will tell me if it is bad. I have a Barfield TT1000 thermocouple tester at work for testing the thermocouples on my helicopter engines I'm wondering if that will tell me anything?

You shouldnt read resistance, thermocouples create thier own current. Hook up a volt meter to it, heat up the tip and see if the voltage climbs steady. It depends on what type it is, usually they run bewteen 0-5v.

I'm sure it is a K type. The thermocouples on my helicopter engine have a resistance check done on a cold engine. I'll go to Isspro's site and see what thay say.
Thanks Jesse.

No problem. The resistance check is probably just to see if the thermocouple is damaged or not, generally it shouldnt see more than one or two ohms.

I found info at the Isspro site but I think they have changed their gauges some since I bought mine. I was thinking that the probe was getting bad as the temps seem to fluctuate some over the same road conditions.
