how do you syphon (i have no idea how to spell that) gas. we were trying to get gas out of our cars to run our generator after Ike hit us and we could not do it.

you need to suck it up through a hose....its kinda hard to explain but put one end of your hose into the gas and then the other to wherever your trying to get the gas to then suck the gas up through the hose until it gets all the way up to your mouth. Its alot easier if the flow is going down hill. Good luck and dont drink to much gas
The can you are trying to fill has to be lower than the tank you are taking the gas out of. It won't work if it is the other way around. Best of luck to all of you.

the problem was out of all of the holes we stuck our hoses in 
we never got to the gas. the hose never even came out wet.

some have anti siphon tanks. like :dale-simon: said some have screens or else the filler neck on the tank is bent in such a way that you cant force a hose through. drop the tank, pull the filler. that shouldnt to hard....
You could always stick a screw driver into the bottom of the tank.... no siphon needed:rofl:

Most late models have the electric fuel pump inside the tank. Pop off any fuel line and turn on the ignition.
