Something to do with the small white letters on the top of the injector if there isnt any they are the old style of it has the writing in white they are the nre style.I do not know this to be fact it is only what i have been told hopefully someone can back this up or say that it isnt true

I was under the impression that the injectors we get today are the same as the ones we originally had. Wouldn't that be why GM prolonged the injector warranty to 7yrs or 200,000 miles?

No form all the research i did when i had my lb7 they updated the injectors in 2004 sometime to a "newer style". I know i have not heard of anyone that has got there injectors changed since about 07 going bad, it took awhile to get all the bad ones out of the system but from what i have been told is that if you get new lb7 injectors they last.

My old lb7 had injectors replaced in 06 and 07..... dealer covered them so I have no idea what went back in but they all basically failed the same way. Be interesting to see how long an "updated" injector makes it????

I know I've heard rumors of injector updates but never from any authoritative source. Maybe Henry can dig up some information from GM.

when i had mine done by exergy they told me i had three old style ones (non chrome ball and seats) and the rest where the newer updated ones with the chrome ball and seats; which i would imagine elimates the errosion and leaking internally or high return rates. mine where within specs so i left them alone. but he told me that if i have troubles down the road that the three non chrome ones would be the ones to check first.
how to tell them apart, dont know. they left me a nice note in each box saying which was which, and i know where i placed them on my motor. :D

i guess that doesnt really help the op at all, but thats what ive been told about the "updated" injectors. i thought he mentioned something about them being changed in '08 or '09, dont quote me.

You better hope LJ doesn't see this. You may be safe since he doesn't seem to post much anymore.

The reason I'm asking is; I sent two rods through my block and bought a used federal engine, I put injectors from my blown engine because I had them done 30k ago last year and they were good, now that I have the engine running I have 3 bad injectors. I was going to take the 8 from the federal engine and have them tested but only if they are the style with the chrome ball and seats

Ok i got it, You can tell by the first digit in the 3rd set of numbers when they were made 4 would be 2004 7 2007 and so on, post 2007 are "updated" with chrome ball and seat but are just as prone to cracking as old style.

I'm actually still unsure which set of numbers Is the 3rd set... 0445120 008 seems to be some kind of Bosch part number then I have 015
Then 39126 1188 and finally 8972080745, numbers are only on one side of the injector and I've seen some with numbers on both sides
