Clear the dtc, change the filter, do yourself a favor and add a lift pump to your truck, and finally shim the fprv.

Also filling out your sig helps everyone help you.

My LB7 was doing that. After doing all of the diagnostics for P0087, I found out my CP3 was weak & returning too much fuel to the tank. After replacing the CP3, the truck is now a beast again.

You really should do some troubleshooting for that code. There are SEVERAL possible failures that can cause P0087. If you just start guessing & replacing parts, it's going to get expensive fast. (unless you're really lucky, I never am....)

I mentioned this in one of your other threads, Do not shim the FPRV! That is not your problem and you can damage the valve installing it. My LBZ has over 200k miles on it and allot more modifications than your truck. I still have my stock untouched FPRV and I have no fuel issues. People do this as a prevenative mod and sometimes do more damage than good. There are test you can preform to check your FPRV but this more than likely is not your problem.

OP,please listen to the info from the members on here.If you do a Google search you will get dozens of hits on this issue. Most links will bring you back to these forums. The p0087 code is a well known issue with our trucks as a result of aftermarket tuning. The best advice that has been given to you so far on both threads you started are: remove the Quad programmer and get some decent tuning OR get a lift pump.Do lots of reading on the forums and don't be afraid to use the search function.:thumb:

I've shimmed all my trucks. Never an issue. Nor would I ever tell anyone not to. It's the number 2 thing to do after installing a lift pump if your going to run higher rail pressure in your tuning.

To the OP, put a lift pump in and see what happens. You will likely still get the P0087 in which case go ahead and shim it. 2 washers should do it, personally, I run 3.

Alright, you guys win, shim it weather it needs it or not:hug:

I'm with you on this one, LLYs tend to pop easier than LBZs :D , and I never shimmed mine until it threw a 1093, then I stuck 2 washers in it. It has held Marks tuning ever since.

I don't know the history of the OP's problems, but I tend to agree with you. I've never seen a low rail pressure problem caused by a FPRV on an LBZ or LMM. There are a bunch of people who have shimmed their rail and done nothing to fix their problem.

It seems to me that the OP was putting out some information to help others solve P0087. I don't think his post was intended as a question.

Just had the same issue with my lbz today same code. Engine was cold and i had only went maybe a mile before having to go about 3/4 throttle recently replaced my fuel filter within the last two weeks. lift pump isnt really an option at this point in time and i just want to make sure that its not something that will mess me up driving back to california. I HAVE cleared the code. Is there any other comments you guys have with this problem.

You should be fine, I've had lots of 0087's, usually when my engine is not quite up to operating temp or if I forget to turn my liftpump on and hammer it. Nothing to worry about I just hook up my V2 and clear it while I'm driving down the road.
