Those guys obviously don't have much experience frying (or carving) turkeys.

What's weird is that it wasn't smoking like crazy. Peanut oil has a smoke point of 440* and my fryer starts smoking at between 375 and 400 with new oil, much lower after a few uses.

Lard (closest I could find to bacon fat) has a smoke point of 370* (just above fry temp) so I would have expected it to smoke a lot more.

If anyone comes up with a source for filtered bacon grease, let me know....:D

Mine is prepped and ready to go. Went with a Lemon/Honey theme instead of Cajun this year.

Plus:
10 lbs chicken wings and homemade Buffalo Sauce
Dill Pickles
Twinkies
Pierogies
"Cow Toes"
Assorted Veggies

Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Yes, Anything can be fried...

Day 2 of running the fryer. More wings and pickles.....

I think I am finally done and my 8 year old nephew says: "I want a fried PB&J sandwich."

I think for a minute and say: "I can do that!" :thumb:

OMG - I think I am going to start my own restaurant chain selling fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches...kids dig them, they are way better than fried twinkies and even the adults were angling in to get a bite...:D

I did a 14lber yesterday in peanut oil, used a cinnamon chipotle rub & injected with Capt. Morgan. Came out pretty good & wasn't much left over.
