How reliable are PPE tunes?

I'm getting a PPE standard and want to know if any engine damage will result in running it on level 3 all the time. I'll keep a eye on the egt's. Will the engine life be shortened alot or little bit. The truck has 75000 miles on it and new injectors.

PPE is one of the best hand held tuners hands down. You will like it alot and want to unlock it and get the higher levels

135,000 + miles on mine, had PPE Hot+2 stacked with a Van Aaken for a while before EFI, so far mine hasn't blown, but who knows what will happen tomorrow :dontknow:

Without a lift pump running some of those higher up levels may not make much difference.... (so your tranny may take the higher level tunes because they arn't reaching their actual potential)

the trans wont take the higher level tunes for long. the potential is there, but the actual power is enough to ruin things quick. remember, to ruin an allison clutch it only takes one slip. after that they happen easier and easier.

I have been running the PPE between levels 3 and 4 for about 2 years on my truck now. So far so good. I agree that PPE makes a great tuner. I can't comment on EGT because I don't have gauges.

Dont expect to hold it wide open for long periods with the higher tunes without an upgraded turbo. Mine on level 7 can easily peg my 1600 gauge in about 4 seconds.

But other than that and not calibrating my speedo its been a great tuner, the power is addicting.

Ditto here, ran the highest level on the Hot+2 ET for a year no problems or one limp code at all!!!

Got a great deal on it from McRat racing.;)

with a lift and a stock 5spd alli, i wouldnt go much over the 90 tune (if you dont wanna wreck anything)..of course you can run higher if your sensible, i ran the 160 tune with just a transgo for a while before the EFI, never had a problem, great canned tuner

The 90HP tune is a joke IMO... If you want to open your eye's up at all you have to bump it up to the 150 tune... I think my truck was faster on the economy tune then it was on that 90HP tune.....

The egt's sure climb quick on level 4 tho... Defentially recommend a egt guage!
