Hey guy's I'm still kinda stuck, I was having performance problems with my tuner cranked up to 225 ( no noticeable tranny problems yet) so I tuned her down, any how I have purchased the transgo jr kit but I dont have a garage and Im by no means a diesel mechanic or a tranny guy. How much do you guys think it will cost me to have it installed.I still whip the strokes with that PPE on the 40HP tune its hilarious.

Depends on which shop you go to of course...if they are know how to mess with a allison. Just a guess but i would say it would take 4hrs x labor rate.

Once you get the valve body out of the truck you an do the work inside your house lol.

And: 225 tune is still gonna be very hard on your trans even with a jr. kit....

I highly doubt a shop will charge 400$ to install a transgo jr. Unless you do the install your self I would wait buy an SCIII Kit then pay a days labor to have a shop install it.

Yes, the 225 will still slip with a Trans Go jr. It is a easy install and comes with good directions.

I said it would be around 4 hours not 400.00 dollars. Maybe 3 hours? Depends on person too. He said he isnt a mechanic. Also depends on what shop does the install. Our rates here are 65.00-85.00 a hour. 65.00 x 4= 260.00 not 400.00.

I would wait to have a built tranny installed too.

How much is an scIII, I'm asuming that that's a suncoast kit. I know that the Jr kit wont hold up to the 225 tune I just want it in for a little more peace of mind.I'm in Wyoming I think the closest place for diesels is Rapid Diesel in South Dakota. I'm going to call tommorow. P.S will the 160 hp tune be ok with the jr kit.

Short answer: No.

You are only helping it a little. The tune will cause clutches to slip. Its assumed around 90hp is where the bad news comes. The way to correct this is better clutches, IE: a suncoast kit.

A stage III will run just over $2k in parts. A converter should be added to at the Time. A lot of power is lost thru it. The SCIII I belive includes a transgo kit as well. An SC III should be good up to about 500rwhp.

Yes it does. And a ppe 160 tune with a transgo jr will and should hold for a while but inevitabley some better clutches and converter will be necessary, IMO...

It should hold a 160 tune....if you didn't hurt your trans already. And generaly speaking you need a converter even with just a shift kit. So if you have to pull the trans to do a convertor you might as well upgrade it while its out:D

I do the Transgo jr within an hour ( start to finish ) and ream the valve body at the same time with Tech 2 relearn. Two hours is for a tech not that faniliar with the Alli valve body. Three hours is for the moron tech that will probably screw it up. Four hours is a flat rip off. Mind you; I am referring to shop installs.
