to install the downpipe?

Keep reading threads/comments about how much of a pain it is. Do I want to do it or drop it off at the local muffler shop?

It's not that hard. I removed the factory by myself, but had a buddy come over to help put the new one in. A second set of hands for getting the top and bottom lined up and clamped helps a lot. Not too bad though.

The biggest pita I had was the flange clamp. For some reason GM decided to put mine at the bottom side of the turbo. After that it wasn't a big deal. And I also had a buddy helping me.

Tranny dipstick brackets kicked my ass. It was a gay job but I got it done myself. A lift may make it easier for you to do it.

Did you guys pull the heat shield off, or could you get it out with it on? Because I had to take mine off to get the pipe out. Even with the dipstick loose.

Listen to this.. It makes it a hell of alot easier to take the heat shield off, I didn't need to even touch the dip stick. I got my downpipe off but it got stuck betweent the engine and firewall, unbolted the heatsheild (which is 3 little bolts) and the whole pipe simply fell to the ground. TAKE THE HEATSHEILD OFF :thumb:

It was a gay project
