Now im not a huge fan of smoke, but how in the hell do they get these things to smoke under what appears to be in this video as a light part throttle?

although doing a smoke show is cool sometimes doing it like that in a populated neighborhood is just being an asshole 
5th or 6th gear floored and maybe a bit of brake.
I've seen it done many times.
Certain Duramax's can do it with an Ally too. I think 01, 02 and some 03's. Get into 5th let the speed come down to about 45 then set the cruise control, and mat it. The truck won't down shift for whatever reason and if you have a good smoke tune, let the fun begin.
LLY's can't do this.

Are you saying an lly can't smoke like this? Or an lly can't do this in the same manner as you have described?
Couldnt you lock it in 5th gear with EFI? and do the same thing more or less as craig described

Yeah, for some reason 03ish+ trucks can't do this trick. I've seen Ecc (02) and my nephew (01) do it many times. It's kind of fun.
Actually an LLY would be way easy to make stupid smoke, just zero out the boost tables. Then don't look at the EGT gauge.
Every crazy smoke tune I've tried to make on an LB7 was good until the turbo lit then it was time to hang on.

You might lose your C1's doing this. TCM sees low speed from speed sensor and calculates that truck is going slow and high tq isn't being requested, pressure drops in Alli; you get the picture.

Yeah on 01's and early 02's if you get going at about 50mph then set the cruise when in 5th gear. You can lug the dog snot out of the truck until about 62ish mph.... Its very fun when that moostang is on your ass

What do your egt's do when you do this?
If its not bad I might have to try it sometime. Black smoke equals high EGT's. It takes air to lower the EGT's. Or WaterWhat do your egt's do when you do this?
