How bad will a 4" lift effect my 1/4 times??

I had a recent run of bad luck with my 05 LLY, first an ice storm droped a 200lb limb on it and dented the hood and passenger fender:mad: Then a dog decided to commit suicide and bent my front bumper and destroyed the lower valance and fog light:mad:.. So now I am thinking of building my front end a little stronger, HENCE, a aftermarket pre runner style front winch bumper. So far everything I have done to the truck has been geared towards getting down the 1/4 faster and I know a 200lb bumper, 4" lift and bigger tires are going to significantly slow me down. So I guess the question is how much? I ran a 13.2 last year on 285-18's and I was hoping with a little more seat time to be in the high 12's next year. A built motor, twin cp3's and turbos would be great but just do not fit into the budget this year. Would an aftermarket turbo, modded cp3, and K.B's mouth piece mod be enough to compensate for the extra weight and height I described above? I use this truck for everything from truck pulls to the strip to hauling my 30' Donzi around and a little offroading during hunting season. Sorry for the life story I just cant decide if I should just fix the truck back to OEM and buy another truck for the off roading and such or just try to make my LLY a do it all vehicle? What do you guys think?

I think you can run 12s on 35in tires and still town the boat, you will definately need a turbo, 68mm cheetah would be sweet.

ahh, I do like the sound of the cheetah. Can the cheetah be used efficiently in a twin set-up down the line?? Idealy I want to put an aftermarket turbo on in the spring but I want something that will work well in conjunction with another turbo down the line. I keep telling myself to hold off on the twins untill I can afford a build even though I know a few guys with lbz's that are holding up. Decisions, decisions:confused::confused:

12's on 35's wont be easy and will take alot of money. I would think a four inch lift and big tires will slow you down alot. I wouldnt lift it if you want to race it IMO. With the lift, tires, wheels and bumper i would guess it to slow you down a easy half second or more.

Lots of guys making great power with the 4094..... that turbo can be used as a single for now and be paired up with a twin down the road.

Dale "LBZ" runs low 13s with a pretty much tuning only truck and a 6" lift and 35's I know its an LBZ but I don't see it being a huge issue to run 12s with 35s

Theres no doubt it would go faster on stock size tires but its not like your asking for 10s or even 11s. I would have had 35s if it werent for my trailer and gooseneck hitch. Now that I sold the trailer and can lift it more I will prob slam it:rofl:

I have run a couple 13.9's with my lb7 w/6" lift and 35's. I still have the stock exhaust and only run a ppe tuner. Low boosted launches like 1600rpms or so. With a good tune and good 60's it should be possible with a stock turbo. Also my 60's blow 2.xx, never pulled a 1.9 or better. I do have 4.11's though.

On my runs rail pressure is down around 9000 at the end of the run, it hits a wall 3/4 of the way down the track.

Ok so we have seen S300s in the 11s and 4094s in the low 12s, add a half second for his lift and tires and he should still be in the 12s if my math is correct:joker:

Single CP3 with a wicked diesel regulator, 4094, and an LBZ or KB mouthpiece should get you close if not in the 12's with a 4" lift and 35's. The GM's are more aerodynamic  than the Chev's so that helps.

If you can get the 60's into the 1.7 area you should have no problems.

just change the tires for when you go to the track, if you really want to go that fast put the stockers back on. a cheetah should work well for a twin set up. i know where you can get a used 68mm from.

Don't forget the 200lb + winch bumper.. Is it 1/10 per 100lbs??

There are going to other deciding factors on how much it will slow you down. If there is a 15mph headwind your truck will be effected much more than mine. If you looking for the best ET don't put a lift on it. These trucks look absolutely mean with the front end dropped. Those things that happened to your truck are freak occurrences and chances are they would never happen again. With a 4" lift you probably going to with 35's? and they will be aggressive tread im sure that will kill your chances of running fast.

I've been looking into this and am somewhat worried about over spinning it. Based off of my math so far it looks like it would need to be gated even tho it is VVT

I know my 4" TC lift weighed 210 lbs and I took at least 100+ lbs off the truck that was removed to install the kit. I have every thing in a pile in the shop and have been meaning to weigh it but havent gotten to it yet.

I ran a best of 7.9 in the 1/8 at stock height and pyo's and 285 bfg's. With my 4" now and 305 bfgs and 16x10 wheels I still run a 7.9 so I dont think it will affect you that much except the 35's will be heavier.

My guess woudl be the lift would hurt more on the top end. So it may make a little bigger diff in the 1/4 mile than the 1/8:confused: just a theory tho:rofl:

I think IdahoRob ran a 11.89 with no lift, compared to my 12.04 with a 4" TC lift. Both trucks were running the same tune FWIW. It is @ different tracks, but it should give you an idea.
