Couple guys around my town are chipped up, one in an 03 duramax with a PPE Hot +2 AND an Edge. The other with a Cummins (5.9) and he has MP-8, edge and some other stack.

Anyways im thinking i can take the other duramax ( who the hell would stack a Hot +2 and an edge, it seems like it would just blow smoke and go nowhere, not to mention kill the cp3 and pistons/rods) he's stock height and im on 35's but im thinkin with him draining his rail he wont be able to keep up to me on lvl 9. And he also has a NADP tranny.

The dodge im not sure, i know he's went through 1 or 2 NADP tranny's already .

Anyone have any thoughts? im gonna try and maybe race them soon

Before EFI and twins, I briefly ran PPE with an Edge to use the Attitude monitor. Any PPE setting 4 and above billowed smoke so bad I couldn't stand to drive the truck. On 3 it didn't smoke so I used that setting with the Edge on 5. Didn't work very well, power was 290/593...... by itself the Edge on 3 was 321/664. Stock LLY w/lift pump and 4" MBRP. There may be Edge/PPE combinations that work fine, but that one didn't.

lvl 8-10 require dual cp-3 although he could just use the Edge for monitoring purposes only. If he's stock height and your on 35's you could have your hands full. Lvl-7 runs real strong with single cp-3.Lvl 8,9,10 are of no use without the help of another fueler.
Let us know how it turns out:rolleyes:

There were some folk stacking the early PPE or Quad tuners with Van Aaken or Edge boxes with good success. To this day, the "correct" stack is still a formidible weapon. It will put out in the high 400's at the tires and has put a lot of trucks into the 12's.

The newer PPE Hot +2's don't need stacking at all. The stacking allowed timing to go past the 22 deg limit table imposed by the ECM when using an old tuner. New ones have the max timing already and will go slower if you stack them.

ok well i tried to stack them and when i load the ppe in even on level 1 @ 2100-2700 rpm the engine sounds horrible but i can run the edge on level 5 all day with no problems sounds/runs strong i called ppe and they said to have the stock map reloaded into it just in case the previous owner had something loaded into it and now instead of stacking 2 i'm stacking 3. in any event i used the ppe to shut off my speed limiter and it is amazing never thought it would do 125 and i let off any ideas on what it can safely run rpms wise

Ok, not trying to jack this thread but I just got a hot+2, haven't loaded it yet. Would a moded CP3 (like the ones on the II website) do the trick, should I stick to stock sticks until I get efi Live?

hot + 2 E.T on my truck three years ago made 412 stacked with the edge on level 3 and ppe on 10, ppe stand alone was 406 and the edge hot on 6 was 387 horse, level 2 or 3 on the edge didnt seem to make a difference in the stack as long as the ppe was on ten

i had just a moded regulator and the little tricks when i was running the ppe on 10, my truck ran 13.8 at 99mph at rmr in salt lake with the stack and a lift pump, intake, exaust, tranny, stock injectors. until you really start cranking up the power bigger turbos ect... stock sticks are good for 700 horse, is your motor built??

I have an older ppe standard that I run on level 5 stacked with an older edge juice on level 4. When I tow heavy I back the edge down to level 2 on tow haul and leave it in 4 on regular. Truck is quite a bit faster with the stack than with the PPE by itself. It did require turning up the pressure on my lift pump to notice the difference though. With the lift pump pressure turned up, there is still a bit of smoke even with full boost of around 32 psi. There is a bit of timing with this stack however, can't get on the throttle until the engine warms up and lets the edge add some fuel. Funny thing is, I get my best light foot fuel economy with this stack on max. Rear tires don't fare so good especially towing heavy.:happy2:
