Well this weekend i traveled 10+ hrs to go to Barber Motorsports Park for a track weekend on the bike. Truck was idleing a little odd but nothing to out of the norm. Seems like it idled like the ac was on but the ac wasn't on. Its done this before but nothing major. Well i take off for my trip home and im cruizing down I-20 at 70-72 on cruise control. I hear what sounds like a window ventvisor flapping in the wind. I slow down and grab it and it gets a little quieter and i think that wasn't the problem since i still hear it after i'm holding it still. I hit the accelerator again and realize the noise got louder. I immediatly look in the rear view and i see a puff of white smoke. I hit the brakes and get off the highway. I put it in nuetral and shut it down. I rolled to a stop and popped the hood and checked all the vitals. Oil looked great. Just changed it 2 days prior with under 200 miles on it. Doesn't smell of fuel and passed my paper towel test. I crawled under the truck to see if any fluids were leaking or leaked. Nothing showed. Gave the rest of the truck a once over and started it up. As soon as it started it sounded as if i lost a rod/windowed my block. I was terrified and shut it back off. I couldn't tell how bad the knock was while moving and going over the rumble area on the side of the interstate. I had perfect oil pressure while driveing and while i started it after the initial shutdown. I checked the fuel pressure regulator on my next start attempt and the RPM's jumped so its working as it should. Tow truck arrived and i drove it up on the rollback. My buddys said it was billowing black while i pulled up. I assume i have open injectors and very low rail pressure. Would anyone agree to my assumptions? I do have EFI live but my friend back home has the box. The truck is getting picked up tomorrow afternoon for its return trip back to NC on the trailer. I'll check balance rates then. Just looking to see who else may have had this issue also. I read a few things about injector knock sounding as bad as a rod knock so that made me feel better. I'd much rather do injectors vise complete overhaul. Thanks ahead of time.
