Honoring a fellow racer

The world of drag racing lost a great member over the weekend. Steve Engel passed away from injuries sustained in a crash in Indy a few weeks ago when his pro mod Corvette hit the wall. I didn't know Steve personally but he was very close to some of my friends and co-workers. He was trying to get zoning to allow him to build a drag strip (with a pulling track ) about 5 minutes from my house.

Today is the funeral. The procession will leave the church with the casket on a 13 axle heavy hauler, proceed to his shop down the street where it will be transfered over to his daily driver Dmax that he loved and then on to burial.

Still hard to believe. We worked with Steve on many heavy haul projects. Great guy and a great group at Diamond to work with. Godspeed Steve.
