Alright so me and two friends are working on this LB7 and we aimed to finish it today. Got the glowplugs in the mail and I was putting them in the right head. First one goes in, then another, next one the torque wrench didn't click and the head of the glowplug twisted off flush with the head:mad:. 7 Hours later after trying easy outs, left hand bits, and a couple other things had to weld a nut on and after many nuts it finally came out! What a frikin nightmare of a day. Hopefully get it finished tomorrow:thumb: Here's a couple pics and the end of my rant.

You're damn lucky you were able to weld a nut onto it to get it out. Good luck on the left side tomorrow.

2 you could be pulling the head right now.:thumb:Thats why i say change them every 2 years,Steel and aluminum are disimlar metals and will corode each other.Well worth the 80 to 90 bucks to change them.

At least it broke off at the head, not the tip. I had 2 (one on each side) beak off at the tip, somehow. The driver's side tip is still inexplicably held in after 5 years. The passenger side tip finally came out last month and appears to have gone through a valve, killing it in the process...

So, hey, it could have been worse! Glad you got it out, and good luck with the rest.

I was about positive it was gonna need a new head because it looked bad. All the other ones the torque wrench clicked but that one never reached 13 ft lbs which makes me think it was a lemon

If I read that story correctly, the old ones came out okay, and a new one broke off during the installation? That really sucks! Glad you got it out without having to remove the head. :thumb:

Heat it up and touch it with candle wax next time ;), then let it cool. The wax chases the threads when liquid, and makes a slick surface when cooled for removing seized bolts/nuts.

we have some crap like that at work, i had a dipstick stuck in a block once and my boss handed me a stick of wax and told me to heat it up the base of the dipstick tube and melt that wax in there. of course i laughed at him, but it worked like a charm!

Yea the wax trick works awesome, everybody should have a birthday candle in their tool box. I think after all the easy outs and attempt drilling the top of the plug it was to messed for wax though

I think I'm gonna break a few bolts today just to try this out. Lol. Never heard of this one. Interesting.
