pretty sure i have, but growing up with my dad being a used car dealer and going to auctions and checkin out cars with him has givin me a slight advantage to see some odd stuff

:DYOU have never seen what? The diesel or the car itself, we had a kid go to my highschool who drove one of those just like that only Maron in color and it had the 350 diesel it was a tank, big slow and loud.

I remember those, they were popular. Buy the car, rip the motor out, drop in a built small block & you were emission exempt.

Same thing as an old Diesel Cutlass. If its got a DX block, then its actually a pretty good engine. IIRC, '82 was when the DX came out. Was that really 27 years ago?

Yup...remember them well. We saw far more in the Olds Cutlass and 88`s, and a lot of Chevy vans, but they were around. Had problems keeping the heads on them. It was essentially a beefed up Olds 350 block and there just wasn`t enough strength in the block to keep the heads fastened down. The blocks had the GM corporate bell housing bolt pattern (non Chevy pattern), but if a guy was lucky, there were many trannys that had the dual bolt pattern and the swap to a gasser motor of any GM make was an easy no brainer.
