In this thread we keep notes that help us log with EFI Live.

Like tips and tricks.

I'll Start:

Remember, Some PIDs use more than 1 channel. When you get alot of channels (like 24 or more) you begin to have trouble logging, and get freezes and errors. When your selecting PIDs you might be under the impression that you have selected 24 PIDs but really you could have something like 38 channels which would be a lot to process.

SO: Pay attention to the channels being used, not just the number of PIDs selected.

I have also noticed (just saw this case as well) that viewing seems not to be so slow and cause problems, but once you start recording, it can slow, jump, freeze.

My tip: Set up different PID selection files. IE: 1 for balance rates, transmission, temperatures, General ECM, etc. etc.

Great tips Mike

Best one ive ever heard was Mcrat and using the horn to make a mark on your log:cool:
I rigged it up on Abby so I could use it this year. I dont know how many hours ive spent looking at logs and trying to find a certain area that needed attention with this look:confused:

Here is another tip: Dont use your cig lighter while logging:D Good chance you will blow the fuse

i picked up a 400w inveter and hard wired it to the truck...

more pids you have the less acurate it is to some extent.

make back up of your pids logs tunes and V dash boards... i lost 75% of mine when i got robbed almost a year ago.. and calc files as well.

when logging races... start logging before you get past the water box... you cna cut out the secgtions you dont want.

dotn close your laptop..... everything stops includign logging

Adam you can change your laptop to not change when the lid is closed:)

One thing I geuss we missed would be logging and where your computer is
im sure we have all had it where the laptop is in the cup holders or sliding around on the pass seat:D When I mounted a monitor in the dash it really helped with logging becuse i didnt have to really take my eyes off the road and it was all run by a wireless mouse:) The scan trace feature is really helpfull!!

My older truck has a mount also

i cant remember simmon... i did it several time last year beofre i i up graded to 7.5 form 7.3

it seams that you cant do it with 7.5

I useally just download it to excel then i can remove unwanted stuff and add formulas there so it doesnt need to use the extra PIDS

EG: ACT vs DES I dont need to log because I can just use a formula in the excell:)
