Today as I got home I quick glanced at the EGT gauge and it usually is around 300 degrees F by the time I get the mail and idle up the driveway. Today is was at ~550 and didn't seem to want to come down. I rev'ed the engine to make sure the gauge was functioning, it moved slightly to about 600 degrees F.

So what could cause these high EGT's at idle? I'm running a tow tune so it not some hot race tune.

My thoughts:
Bad gauge/pyro probe?
LB7 idle- probably not.
turbo brake- not likely.

Heck the LB7 idle I've found makes the temps come plummeting DOWN before I hit the driveway....Were you pulling anything before?

Nope, just driving home from school. My temps usually never exceed 750 while driving  Just cruising I'm at 550-600 degrees at 60

Dirty air filter....Doubtful on your truck Cornell:D

Haha, actually that could have something to do with it. I have a new filter sitting in the shop, I just haven't switched it out. My filter couldn't be that bad could it? Truck never sees gravel and I put a new filter in 13k miles ago

I'll check it out

Ya I would say probe as well, but for chits and giggles, it wouldn't hurt to do a balance test to see if maybe you aren't starting to develop an injector problem. Not sure why I am suggesting this  but it's what I would do.
