Well I got the HID kit today. I have installed a few kits in many trucks and even the LMM so I knew what I was up against and all the tricks. Took about an hour because I wanted to mount the ballast in a good spot and make all the wiring neat. Plus I pull the whol front grill off and the headlights out. (GM F'ed us on replacing headlamp bulbs, its a PITA on the LMMs).

This install went good. The HID bulbs them selves are a little tricky than most kits I installed, there kinda hard to get in the headlamp, but they will go with a little force. The rest of the kit is very nice. I will recommend them to all.

Any way here are the pics. These are the 15,000k ones and when they warm up they are purple for sure :D

Nice!

I want a set of hid's, almost ordered them. But then I read at dp that they weren't dot legal. I wouldnt care but when I'm working the truck I have to go thru the scales, keep a log book (or 2 or 3).

Anyone know for sure??? Do the bulbs or ballast have the "dot ______" like regular bulbs?

So, why Purple?

Few things say "pull me over" like blue/purple head lights..

if a cop here can prove there illegal I will be surprised. Plus, most cops thnk my trucks sick anyway. Pull me over, give me a fix it ticket if they really wanna. This is Vegas, the cops here actually have better shit to do than stop you for some purple lights....

Newly, your are't purple in the pics.....
