I was just wondering how loud stacks are when you're in the truck. Do they resonate? This truck is HOPEFULLY gonna be a full time pulling truck after is payed for so i don't really want to put exhaust on it twice. (pipe has to point up) but for now i drive this thing everywhere and i want to be able to carry on a conversation with the wife going down the road.

So let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance for the help!

If it matters Im kinna thinking about dual 6"ers in black. :cool2:

O/T...but very nice truck Up Country!

On topic (sort of)...I would like a single stack (5" or 6" slash cut cab height) but can't bring myself to cut another hole in the bed  The gooseneck hitch hurt enough...also I use the bed too much and need all 6'6" of bed floor.

my wife's isn't too bad until about 1900-2000RPM then it resonates a little. Before and after that, it's not any worse than the freakin mud tires roaring. :D She has dual 5" turnouts about level with the top of the cab. It's an extra cab short bed too.

I'm told that if you can stand the look of running them a couple inches above the top of the cab they are better than being even with the cab or lower.

The rest of my write up didn't show. Probably erased while inserting pics. Anyway, the height you set them above the cab will help a little. With the windows down they are loud, even 6" stacks. With the windows up though I think they are nice sounding, i.e. you can hold a conversation with the wife without yelling over the exhaust, if you don't hold it to the floor while talking.

UCF, what size are those stacks? Looks nice. I like the boxes you built around them, and black stacks are sweet. Are they painted or powdercoated or what?

I have a 5" slash cut pipe that does not clear the cab. It is actually about 5" below the cab line. Someone else mentioned already about it resonating at certain RPM's and that is true in my case as well. I travel often and the noise never bothers me but maybe it does to others. I just don't know as I am sure they don't want to insult me(As if I care). Go for it man, try something different

I want to go to a sinigle stack in the center of the bed, but with the amount of heavy pullin I do over long distance I don't want to go crazy form the drone

After a week or so it becomes just another sound of your truck and I bet it wouldn't bother you as you wouldn't even notice it. Maybe not...

She wants to straight ppe her truck once we get her one either a cummins or a duramax maybe and a big maybe an old 7.3 powerchoke, she is waitin tell I get home so she can use my discount. She loves the sound and smell of these trucks but after an 800 mile run it may even bother me. But I am not sure as I don't have a diesel with stacks. I knw my 454 with stacks will drive you crazy in about 2 minutes 5 inch tips and 40 series flowmasters on a healthy 454 is a bit loud

I have an 03 LB7 reg cab with a 6" stack even with top of the bed.

I would not recommend it on a daily driver without a muffler. Ask Ken (Subman), he used to own it. He said he was practically deaf after driving to California and back .

I love mine personally. As long as they are a bit over the cab I highly doubt you will find them annoying. I also road in a single stack truck identical to my setup. Surprisingly the single stack was MUCH louder than my own...

here's my 6":
