What's it mean when your truck has sat for 3 days since the last sled pull and there was no problems when u parked it and when I started it today and put it in reverse it was slow going in and moved real slowly like it was slipping. I stopped right away and put it in park waited a second then back in Reverse and it acted fine and shifts fine under normal driving conditions. I haven't tried getting on it yet. Any ideas if its on its way out or if it was just cold? I'm planning on changing the spin on tonight. It only has about 800 mi on the filter but about 5 hooks.

Any ideas is appreciated

Thanks,
Kev

Check fluid level first. Doubt it's the spin on but maybe. I would have a look at the sump filter as they are known for sliding out.

fluid level is good. Color is decent for having 50,000 mi on it. I will drop the pan this weekend and change fluid and sump filter. Just kinda had me worried because I've been pretty hard on the stock tranny. Actually just waiting for the day it goes:eek:

Would the slipping or slow to go in to reverse be low line pressure, low volume (sump filter sliding out), or slipping clutch pack? I know its hard to diagnosis things with out seeing them but just curious as to what this symptom leads to.

thanks again

Kev

Doubt if it's line pressure. Cut the sump filter open and see what's inside.

I won't be able to get to the sump filter until this weekend - Sunday. I understand the term drainback. But what actually happens and causes it if that is what it is?

Is it something to be concerned about?

If you look at the converter the way it sits in the truck you have your pump hub in the middle which means everything above the hole will drain back into the trans because of gravity. The sealing rings and the valves are suppose to stop this but sometimes they don't to the wear on rings and leaks on worn valves. This does not hurt anything at all. The problem is I have not heard of an '06 doing this.

Sorry it took so long to get back with you. Sometime there aren't enough hours in a day.

I took the pan down and replaced the sump filter. Old one looked fine with only slight flakes in it. Tranny has been acting fine since my initial post. Must have been drainback.

I appreciate all the input.
