I want to know what the best, safest most reliable front steering setup there is for an 04 3/4 ton 4x4 4 door with a 6" Rancho lift. It has the hiem ends on it now from some company that went out of business. It was done before I ever saw this truck. The spindle/knuckles have been drilled out for thru bolts. About 3-4 weeks ago i had to replace the outer ends-I didn't know about the difference or that they offered a heavy duty one-it popped off 2 days ago while he was driving on a dirt road(thank god he wasn't doing 70+ on the highway) and NOW I know there is a difference. These cost $15 versus $80-$100 for heavy duty ones. Doesn't matter now, if I have to buy new spindels thats fine. I just want to know the best safest way to make it work on the track as well as a daily driver.

Id get new spindles with hd tie rods personally.

X3. I personally use the cognito HEIM's with no issues and have replaced the ends once. They use the stock mounting so no drilling is required ant stockers could be re-installed if desired.

They also sell a HD tie-rod end that looks similar to the stocker except it is ALOT thicker. Many guys are using these now with no complaints and I think I am going to switch to them when these HEIM's wear out.
