Hoping maybe someone could throw some insight to this.

Blower motor worked awesome yesterday, nice hot air with all the ice/slush.

Let the truck sit overnight, started it up to do some last minute shopping (we have christmas on sunday) and it wont work at all...1-4 doesnt do anything on the hvac controller but when i turn to 5 or from 5 you'll hear the motor click and thats it.

What gives?

Also, i noticed some red coolant where the truck sat where the pass side front sat any ideas? I'm especially worried about this because i know red=trans, but im not sure why it'd be dripping fluid. I installed the exhaust but i jacked from the engine k-member and thats the most recent thing i've done. It's leaking from the pass. front area.

Truck is going to the dealer under warranty on monday, but in case we need it for an emergency is there anything to check?

Thanks,
Dave

Sometimes the trans cooler lines will be routed wrong from the factory. I think there is a thread on here somewhere. It will cut the line and leak.

With the blower, I've seen the same thing if I haven't pushed the right buttons. (climate control option). I keep pushing buttons until it works instead of reading the owner's manual. :D

Sorry, can't help with the blower motor. Could be controller, or the motor.

Is it red coolant (Dexcool) or tranny fluid? It's relatively common for the crimped fittings on these trucks to leak trans fluid up front on the passenger side by the coolers. Usually these are just slow drips.

If it's leaking just in front of the front pass. side tire towards the middle of the truck it's the trans cooler lines. They have poor crimps from the factory and the fluid can be forced past them when it's cold. I'm on my 5th or 6th set, I can't remember. GM is well aware of this problem. Is it possible that moisture could have gotten into the blower motor and froze? How cold is it where you are?

fuses are perfect, even replaced with new and nothing.

Its red coolant that looks like frozen blood...im kind of surprised its just now leaking because the alli sees over 200+F when pulling wagons in the fall.

Its 20*F right now windchill is -5*F and its supposed to get down to -30*F later tonight into tomorrow with actual temps in the 2-3* range.

It could be possible i guess? i drove around in the ice/slush shit yesterday and it sat all night, i tapped the motor housing and nothing at all happened. I havent checked the engine fuse box yet so maybe theres another fuse there for it i'll have to check.

is there a bulletin or update for the trans lines? figured maybe they would go with a threaded update kit of some kind?

Sounds like your blower motor resistor to me... very common, moisture gets in there and shorts them out, about 60 bucks from the stealer. On your 06, its located directly under the heater motor on the passenger side and has 5 wires on one plug feeding it, and a short lead to the blower motor as well. 2 5mm screws hold it in place, mine goes every other winter on my 05, and its actually doing the very same right now.

Don't know. Just found mine seeping last week and found several threads at DP talking about it. I'm out of warranty miles, and I haven't checked for any TSB's.

well the fuse was blown in the engine fuse box deal...didnt look like it but it was.

Far as the fluid goes, guess i'll call monday and see what the deal is.

redbone: i thought we we're bad with mileage on our trucks but 100K miles and its a 2007, you either haul some ass or sometin lol.

I would say it's trans fluid, it's cold enough where you are for it to leak. Once the trans warms up it usually stops. Next time you start your truck and the high idle comes on you should be able to look in front of the front pass side tire and watch it drip. Maybe crawl underneath and take a look at the lines on the pass side of the plastic skid plate thing, it's black rubber line with aluminum crimps. If it's leaking there will be some fluid on the crimp itself and maybe a drop ready to fall. Again, this is just my experience. Hope this helps you track it down. :)

our 06 lbz never high idles....maybe theres enough pressure on low idle though to check.

I did notice that when i warmed it up this morning before i discovered the blower didnt work that where i moved it close to the house to warmup it wasnt dripping fluid anywhere.

I agree with the above posts, the red is probably tranny fluid from the bad line crimps and the fan issue is probably the module. Here is a pic of the fan module.

Bout ready to get my lines replaced. Since I'm under warrenty I will have the dealer do it. If they start to leak again I will have a shop build me some real lines.

Hey Mike L. Do you still sell the line sets you made up a little while ago for the trans?
