We reformatted our computer while backing it up I didn't notice that none of my EFI files saved and lost them. I had a few of them in emails so not such a big deal other then I think I lost my stock TCM file. Anyways I had them saved to the desktop in there own folder not in the Bin like EFI tries to do. Since the reformat I have let EFI save them where it wants. When I back up again should it save them this time?

Also I have 100s of bookmarks that I lost last time. The ones from IE got backed up, but my wife uses that and I use Mozilla. Is there away to have Mozilla back them up like IE does? On another occasion that we reformatted I put them in a word doc, but had to manually enter them back in which would of taken forever so I never finished them.

Thanks

Maybe a dumb question, but are you sure you're looking in the right spot for them in your backup (assuming it was a true full backup of the entire disk)?

If it was XP they should be in C:\Documents and Settings\whatever your user name was\Desktop\whatever you named the folder\

I use Carbonite Online backup. For the $45 - $54 dollars a year depending on if you find a coupon for unlimited space it is well worth it.

After the initial backup which depending on connection speed can take a week or more it automatically backs up your files after that.

Where you back up to is pretty much up to you, but I would highly recomend spending a little $$ and getting a flash drive that plugs into your USB, and save all your EFI files on there. I have had mine washed 3 times in the washer and dried in the dryer and my data on a flash drive was still there and usable. Also, if you have an SD Card slot, back the file up to one of those 2.

Depending on the size of your hard drive, you could buy an external USB. Most of them have their own backup software that will copy everything on your hard drive. From there you just go in and have it extract the files you want. My Western Digital passport was used to back up my 40 gb work computer. Since I have left the company, I have recovered several of the files from the previous computer just by going into the backup files. Extremely helpful for retrieving old e-mails.

To backup your Firefox bookmarks: Bookmarks>>Organize Bookmarks>>In the new window you have a selection: Import and Backup.

For the best way to backup your computer: what kind of computer? What operating system? Anything special about your setup?
