I want to wire my gps to my ignition switch just not sure where to cut this wire. It is a cigarette adapter to 1 wire to some capacitor looking thing to 2 wires to a mini usb which feeds the GPS. If i cut the 2 wire, ground one and feed the other hot will it power the mini usb and GPS??

I did this a while back and decided to wire in a cig plug under the dash instead. Lot easier and if you want to use the gps in another vehicle, it's easier to remove.

I wired up my gauges like this. Simply get a test light, and start poking.. :D

I'll get a pic in a minute and show you the stud location on the block to plug the hot wire in, then place your 12v accessoriy cig lighter where ever you want. Ground is easy.

I think this would be better than trimming the whole plug down, besides the plug in itself has a built in fuse that I would recommend keeping.

All done! I wired the hot using an add a circuit in RR WPR for power only when the ignition is on. Riveted the ground wire beside the parking brake release and also riveted the gps bracket to the dash. Got all of the parts at advance auto parts. add a circuit, wire, connectors, and cig lighter.
