my 2005 has been setting and or just ideling for the past few months now when i drive it i get code p2563 which from what i have read indecates stuck vanes so i tried a different control solinoid and pulled to cap off the side to try to manually push the plunger and i cant get it too move i tried hitting it with a hammer to jar them loose not too hard of course any ideas before i jump in and pull it off and pull it apart?

is not uncommon in the vvt turbos atleast from a dealer standpoint here in ct. we do atleast one a month. the unison ring rusts to the flange it spins on and then you have no vain movement. it is a great turbo design, but this is one of the design flaws. you can manually control the vain position with your efi live scan tool. maybe worth a try.
