From what I've learned when it comes to performance. The more air and fuel you can feed into an engine efficiently. Than that will equal more power with better response and lower egts. Yes with a stock setup you might not notice much but everything will make a difference somehow. :thumb:

If it's a two piece bridge get rid of the stocker!!! The o rings have a tendency to blow out when pushing more air pressure, or if you ever have to take it apart they are hard to get re-sealed, and boost leaks are a bitch, especially there:eek: also the stock piece leaves allot to be desired for in terms of flow

I think a 3" y-bridge is a worth while mod, on built trans tuning. Anything less and I doubt you would notice a difference. When I did the y-bridge I had stock injectors, cp3 and built trans tuning, and the addition of the y-bridge made a notable difference all around, the truck was also fitted with ram air intake, 3" cac tubing, ppe manifolds and a downpipe, after the addition of the y-bridge I had less smoke from the tailpipe, slightly quicker throttle response, I believe I picked up maybe 1/2mpg, but I drive so hard I never really care to check economy:eek:

It's nice to have once you start going with more air flow and higher power levels though...

Wehrli bridge is a one piece stocker with 3 inch pipe welded into it. Ya I got into the job and it's not worth the trouble for me.

Thanks for the input, I wanted the all the gains I could get from my stock turbo but doing this job I might as well pull the cab off and do the turbo. I think 01's have some differences in the harness and in the center of the motor. A lot more shit I don't remember seeing in pictures before I started this.

I feel your frustration.

It's not an "easy" task. There's really nothing complicated about it, but it's definitely not a quick and easy mod, just getting to bridge itself is some work, then getting to the bolts is a royal pain, then getting them back on and torqued down...

It took me probably 4hrs or more to get it done on the LBZ start to finish, I ran into some difficulties. Yeah, the older trucks have the FICM, fuel lines and wiring in the way, maybe more, I haven't worked on too many LB7's.

If you have plans to put in a bigger turbo, it might be best (definitely easier) to just wait and get er done all at once:)

Ya wehrli said he can do them in 1 hr. Sorry I call BS on that one.

You can do it but it's definitely a long job. I had back surgery 6 months ago and I'm not in the mood to bend over the lifted truck for that long anymore haha.

1hr? Really...take him up on that, what's the goin rate 85-100? It's worth 100 bucks, if he will do it for $100 let him, but just make sure he knows you're not going to pay more than the 1hr quote:D

I have some back issues too, working on stuff is rewarding and I like it, but the reward doesn't matter too much for the days I can't stand up straight without grimacing in pain after the job is done.

Sorry. No offense, but if you couldn't figure out how to get the belts loose, I don't think I would judge how long it would take a guy that works on things every day, to do a parts swap

Come on, you gotta admit, on a y-bridge r&r, 1hr is some fast flying wrenches

I do believe it can be done in an hour by a proficient professional, I just think it's probably not gonna be very common to find a guy that can accomplish that, on an engine bay that's totally stock, nothing out of the way.

30min off and 30min on, ready to drive off? That would really impress me, but it doesn't take much.lol like I said earlier, to me, it would be worth $100 bill, especially to someone that has complications with their back:)

When I got mine I was quoted 3hrs for install, by a shop that had only ever installed one, on the shop truck, when they installed twins

Lol good luck if anyone thinks they can do that in an hour on my truck. For a 100 bucks I would certainly pay someone for that job haha.

I'll come back to the job tomorrow and see how I feel about going through the mess ha

Back issues can become very serious, be careful of that Jason. I lifted heavy for years and eventually paid for it.
