Finally have 4l80re swapped into my 99 gmc truck, mated to a lq9 6.0. I used the write up on ls1truck for the swap. I tried to create an account there to post but account hasn't been activated for a week now... Anyways any one know what setup u go with on a RC pickup? The write up was an avalanche so they were able to use a driveshaft that's to long for my truck... I have the 1350 yoke for the rear to fit, but don't have the front part or driveshaft to fit. No one in town here to weld aluminum either so ill prob have to drive to the city for driveshaft to be worked on. Unless yal have other easier options... I did go with a Circle D billet conv 3k stall, going turbo route. Should be fun... I bought this truck brand new when I was 18 and I've been tinkering with it time to time

Your best bet is going to be to just have the driveshaft welded and re balanced. I just did this swap on my 99. Driveshaft was cheaper than I thought it would have been, $150 cash

Well couldn't find a steel driveshaft in this state! So next was to buy a front yoke and have a drive shaft made.... Comes out to 700 dollars for the combo, I was hoping I could come out cheaper, but this setup will come out nice and be able to handle whatever hp I decide on. Should be able to move on its own n a week

Ive got an aluminum express van driveshaft sitting in the garage. was even on a 4l80.

How long of a shaft do you want? Mine is probably too long

Pretty sure it's a triple disk- pro series stage 3 265mm 2a. It's supposed to be billet and handle 800+.... Don't know anything else about it, except a friend recommended Circle D so I gave them a call.

We had a little hiccup with Chris at first with the converter in the van, but he more than made up for it in my book. He's a good guy to deal with. I'm really happy with the converter after the changes he made.

That is awesome to know, thanks Josh! By the way, my tranny still drives like a Cadillac!

Sent the Yoke to the shop on Friday, they didn't get to it as of today, so probably after Thanksgiving... After they get the yoke on, they'll measure for the driveshaft and a shop here will build it. Just sent an email to Guerra Motorsport(Patrick G) to see if he will re-calibrate my PCM for the 4l80. After that it should run on its own. I'll be using Patrick G for my cam and efi tuning when I tear into the motor.

Using Pat G's tuning and finally got truck out on the road this evening. Man have to tell ya, that 4l80e does rob power... Lots... Cool to actually read it dies then go outside and find out it truly does. Either way fun night
