LBZ: HELP! No Crank! Clunk every key turn!

1. Batteries are new, but just in case I did try boosting after.
2. Turned over strong for a few cranks, fired then died.
3.Slight burnt belt smell (DID I SEIZE IT???)
4.When I turn the ignition it clunks, hard, every time.

Seized?
Starter?
I have about 1500 Miles to drive, was supposed to start tonight. Any help would be appreciated.

could be the starter, make sure you have the rite voltage at it. but that wouldnt explain the burnt belt smell.i would pull serp. belt off and check to see if anything locked up.

If it was me, i would make sure it had proper voltage, then if it was good, pull starter. the clunk you describe is what a starter without the proper voltage will do, or if its bad..

it's louder than the average low volt clunk, doesnt sound like the solenoid. I will go test some things now. Like I said though it was turning over really strong when it quit.

Starter was seized, beat it with a hammer, good to go! I'll get a new one on Saturday. Thanks 711
