Help me make up my mind...

All i've been thinking about for the past week is wanting to build myself a set of twins but, it seems like everyday i change my mind about what i want to run. I need help choosing in a bad way lol

Option 1) Since i plan on eventually building the engine, keep the s472 in the valley and pair it with an s480. (how horribly laggy will this be?)
2) Sell my turbo, pedestal, oil lines, etc. buy an s475 and a stock turbo and twin that.
3) Convert my s472 to a 475 (not entirely sure what that will take, new compressor and turbine wheel and looser T6 exh housing???) and buy a stock turbo and build a set from that.
4) buy a stock turbo for the valley and run my s472 as the low pressure charger given that i buy a T6 looser AR exh housing (bigger turbine wheel too??)

i like the idea of #4, seems like it would make a very fun DD street setup and be the least expensive (i am on a tight budget with this). Just not sure what AR housing and what size turbine would work the best?

Any guidence yall may have is appreciated. :thumb:

What's your goal for the truck?
well to be honest the sky is the limit with time....i plan on keeping the truck for a long time. it will eventually become a full time project.
3 or 4
#4 would be snappy as hell if you matched everything up correctly. A 1.32 with a 96 turbine might work.

thats what i was thinking...so you think the same AR and turbine as an s475 would do good for the 72?

If the sky's the limit in the future putting a stock turbo back in valley would be going backwards IMO. What's wrong with the 472?

true, however it will be a loong time till my truck outgrows the potential of the stock turbo. and nothing at all is wrong with the 472. I just have a hankering to build my own twins and i wouldnt mind the faster spool although this 72 isnt bad.

i have a T4 1.10 but i guess the T4 is a no go? and i was also thinking the drive pressure with the 1.10 might be high, but if i run a .90 as a single seems like a 1.10 would work with a twin...

nothing is....i would just enjoy making a set of twins for myself and instant spool would be badass.

I made up my mind. What size turbine and AR should I get for the s472 to run it with a stock charger?

Definately going backwards:confused: the 72 is too small to be the atmosphere charger I would think. Seems like alot of work and money for slightly faster spool and no more power.

See I don't think the 72 would be too small as long as I got the right turbine and AR. I'm not doing this for more power at all. Just for the fun of the fun of the project and for some instant spooling

A S472 will work fine , but the only time I use them is in towing aps , we put a billet wheel in them so we can get the flow back up to what the cast S475 will do , there is not a huge difference in spool between the 2 , the exducer size on the wheel is identical , and the inducer is only 2-3mm smaller so ........ for the money it is best to sell your S472 and buy a new T-6 S475 , it will save you several hundred dollars , if you keep the 83mm turbine it would likely have to be gated to run its best and will not make as much power as using the 96mm turbine , a new turbine housing and a gate will be 500.00 bones , you can pick up a new S475 for around 700.00 and could easily get that out of your T-4 S472 , if you cant ill trade you for a S475 any day .

Yeah I guess for about the same price as it would cost for a T6 housing and larger turbine, I could get an s475. I guess I'll just sell my whole setup pedestal oil lines and all. So this twin setup might not cost me much at all.

Is your tranny and rods, head studs etc. all built up to go to twins? It's not listed below on your Avatar so I was only looking at what it's ready for. Fix it as the breakage happens is what alot do I guess just build twins turbos/CP3's then bigger injectors. It might hold up but a limped tranny seems like the start of it. Trent can help you with drive pressure keeping it down with tuning you final get up. Just read about these twin guys and next it's bent rods and bad tranny etc. Lots of power down low you will like it when you drive it no doubt.
