Driving yesterday on the 101 I felt a "thud thud" in the driverside front end? Could be the wheel bearing... there is no grinding or schrilling sound however.

Check all your stuff on that side. There's not much there. Ball joints shocks cvs. Everytime my wheel bearings have crapped they squeal

Maybe you ran over a squirrel.:D

Have you jacked the truck up and checked for any movement in the wheel?

My wheel bearing didnt squeal till the very end.

I didnt know it was bad till i thad the truck on the alignment rack, tech noticed it as he was spinning the tire/ you could see it wasnt rotating " true"

How many miles on your truck?

I hear you Cali guys have nasty freeway joints!!

I've had this happen sounds off base but don't hurt to check, check cab mounts and front support mounts. by driver side cab mount which is right next to your feet was bad I thought it was a ball joint sounds like it anyway, just trying to help. good luck

I got $20 on a wheel bearing :thumb:

That is what I'm thinking as well Kat but I haven't put it on the lift yet... about 5,000 miles ago it had a horrible grinding sound then went away? the pass. side has a very slight schrilling sound at certain times... probably not a bad idea to just replace both.

If you have to change the wheel bearings shop around for prices. I can't remember where I got mine but there was a big difference in prices between stores.

Not saying this applies to wheel bearings. But I've had plow bearings squeek and sound horrible then all of a sudden go away. Then later on you find out that it is totally trashed. And these were non servicable bearings also.

You don't need a lift to check... Just jack up one side of the truck and grab the wheel top and bottom and try to move it ;)

I should be able to investigate your front end problem in my rear view mirror at the truck in a couple months.... Ill let you know ;)

Why not this weekend Matt... you've got an oil leak, I have a rear axle leak and a jacked up front end. It seems fairly fair eh?
