Yes, you are right Dale, I started having this trouble before I removed the valve body. I only removed the valve body to go through the trouble shooting steps provided by ALLDATA. I will certainly check the wiring. I checked the plugs when I bypassed the co-pilot wiring and did not find any bent pins, but will recheck.

Thanks Dale.

Meaningless OT input here.... but good luck! Not much worse than trying to fix an issue on a creeper under the truck.

I have about every tool I don't need, but I wish I had a tool that I could use as a hone in a bore that small. I'll pull the pan and valve body again here in a minute and give it another shot. Thanks for the help, I do appreciate the advice. On one of the last checks, I even swapped the " E " and " D " on/off solenoids. Why is the trans taking off in 4th? Thanks again.

some of the solenoids are normally opened/some are normally closed. I forget which ones are which...so swapping them probably wont fix anything. F-trim and A and B trim are PWM solenoids so leave those alone...

They are oriented in the NC/NO fashion so the trans can hydraulically default to third gear if all electrical power is lost....are you sure yhou dont have a wiring problem?

These two particular solenoids have the same part numbers.

I have my truck up and running again finally. Thank you very much Big Dipper for your help. You spent lots of time corresponding back and forth and I truly appreciate your concern. Not everyone will go out of their way to help a person they've never met. George ( Big Dipper ), Dale, Mike L., LB7Diesel, James, Kurt and everyone else that has responded with suggestions, deserve every bit of respect from me.

Thank you

Woo-Hoo, Larry your in for a ride......

Mike what excatly did u do with your e vavle?? i will be tearing into mine thursday or friday

I think it gets reamed out so it moves/slides freely. Apparently, really i don't know for sure, it get's hung up and sticks. I haven't popped one open yet, but i used to use a pick, CAREFULLY, and slide them (pistons/valves) prior to buttoning up the VB to make sure i didn't miss anything or leave something "hanging".

Perhaps i should let the guy who just figured it out answer:eek:

After the bore was reamed, I polished the bore as George explained I should do. Since this, the valve has not stuck one time. Well, might have once, but not sure.... Killed the truck for a half hour, went back and run the truck with 0 trouble until the converter showed signs of trouble. Anyway Kurt, keep your truck and get if fixed right.

I believe there is a flaw in the way the valvebody was cast. I think that when you tighten it down it distorts the E shft valve bore. I also believe that you guys doing this without the cleaning facilities that I have can get in trouble because the slightest miniscule piece of dirt will stick this valve. Glad you got it fixed.
Yesterday I must have taken in 15 E shift valve calls.

I'll think twice about pulling the trans to check a flex plate. :D I too agree, cleanliness is next to impossible unless I am in a shop like yours. Thank you for the help. Hard to believe the bit about torquing the valve body causes this problem, but I'm not Mike L. I don't have the experience you do.... ;)

EDIT: Re-reading the post, I get the feeling some may take this as I DO NOT BELIEVE over torquing will cause this issue. I DO BELIEVE it will. Thanks

We bought a high quality Snap-On 3/8's drive torque wrench just to tighten the VB bolts. It's also handy for some smaller internal engine nuts and bolts also. (injector nuts, valve cover bolts, etc......

Tightening sequence is followed to the letter per the Allison manual. We have not had any of these issues. might be a good idea to see if this is the problem.

Look at the information I emailed you Kurt. Ask your brother where it is, you said you'd look at it the next day. The information I sent you that is....

Big dipper Mike L Mike Steve and all the others i missed. Thank yall very very much it was the e-shift vavle that was messed up with it. it is going like normal now. It shifts very hard when at Wot but if take it easy with her and drive normal it shifts like its stock. there is a pretty bad rubbing noise coming from in the bellhousing im just wondering if it aint the flexplate again.
