Hello, i just bought a 2005 chevy silverado 2500 that needs some work, it had been sitting since last fall and needed batteries, the previous owner tried to jump start it and couldnt get it started, and i towed it to my shop and replaced the batteries. Now the truck will not start or even crank for that matter. The starter will spin the engine when i install my test relay in the underhood fuse panel and jump it there, but the engine still wonr fire, there are no codes other than a p0605 rom error, but I understand that this can be from loosing power to the ecm. All fuses are good, and the security light isn't flashing. Im at a loss as of what to look at next, ive searched, but haven't found any answers.

Yep po did a good job of most likely toasting u an ecm. I tell people all the time to NOT use jumper cables or a battery charger to start a car UNLESS they KNOW wtf they are doing. My jumper cables are probebly 50 lbs of copper and I dont need to run the car to start the dead one. You can fry shit with junk cables becaus the alternator on the vehical you are using freaks out from low voltage and spikes. Same with a battery charger. That P0605 code is a death code. the ign switch sends a sig to the ecm to req it to start the truck. Sounds like the ecm isnt. look at live data and see if the ecm is sending and recieving signals as well as the ficm. :thumb:

thanks for the move, I kind of figured that the ecm was fried, was hoping that it was something simple but oh well, I ordered a good used ecm from my local junk yard, so hopefully I can at least start the truck to determine my next course of action I know it at least needs a passenger cyl head as it is leaking near #8 glow plug above the head gasket surface, and figure I might as well do both head gaskets and stud the engine and at least do an egr delete. its a fairly clean truck other than the normal rocker rust. I actually saved the truck from the crusher for 800 bucks, so I'm not afraid to put some money into it as long I can get her to fire
I really just cant believe what people will haul to the scrap, and I'm glad that I'm good friends with the owner of my local junkyard! last month I bought a 2011 Honda rancher that all it needed was the carb cleaned! for scrap price!! people are idiots
